Th is
book covers the General Dynamics F-16A/B Netz with the Israeli Air Force
Knights of the North Squadron from 1980-1987.
This book includes 37 colour
photos and about 340 black and white photos covering the day
to day operations and very interesting missions that were tasked to this
Squadron. And interesting missions they were:
- Iraqi nuclear plant bombing mission in 1981
- First kill by an F-16....by any F-16 worldwide
- War in Lebanon and the aerial engagements with
the Syrian Air force jets in the early 1980's
The book is divided into the following chapters:
- Introduction
- First Flight
- Arrival and Getting Operational
- Attack in Iraq
- First Kill
- Deployments and Conversions
- Winds of War
- Lebanon War
- Back to Routine
This is mostly a picture book full of historical
photos that take you on the flightline and even some HUD and bomb camera photos
from the flight into Iraq and the bomb mission photos when the nuclear reactor
was destroyed. The text does a wonderful job to explain the photos and
tell the stories of this famous Israeli Squadron.
The book finishes off with 9 side view colour
profiles of the significant jets in the Knights
of the North Squadron including 2 that were part of the Iraqi mission and other
jets that scored kills against the Syrian Air Force as well as the Israeli F-16
that scored the first air to air victory of any F-16 worldwide.

This is a very
interesting book and does a wonderful job of looking at this squadron up close
in it's day to day operations. This intimate look provides some
fascinating details about the
Knights of the North Squadron from 1980-1987.
