1/48 - Macchi C.202
Folgore Exhausts (fits Hasegawa kits)
$4.95 (US Funds) · $5.95 (CDN Funds) each
Like most modellers, I have a
fascination with the Me-109. This fascination includes the various
versions of the 109 and planes that used the DB-601 engine as well as licence
built versions of this beautifully engineered German engine. The Macchi
C.202 Folgore used a licence built version of the DB-601 engine that was was
built under licence by Alfa Romeo. This engine and the design of the
Macchi C.202 Folgore made it the best
wartime fighter to serve in large numbers with the Regia Aeronautica. It
served in Libya in late 1941and also took part in action against Malta and
Allied convoys in the Mediterranean and in September 1942, was deployed in some
numbers on the Eastern Front. It played a significant role in the defence of
Sicily and southern Italy against bombing attacks launched by the USAF, but were
less effective as attrition had reduced the total number available. This is one of the
latest products from
Ultracast.
This
set includes 2 resin exhaust pieces. The resin casting is the
typical excellent Ultracast quality. The detail is crisp and very well
done. How Ultracast can create tiny square hole exhaust tubes out of resin
is beyond my full understanding....but I know these will be a must for folks
building their next 1/48 Macchi C.202 Folgore.
You should be able
to find these directly from the Ultracast
website. I'd like to thank the folks at Ultracast
for the review sample
