The German Arado 234
was the very first purpose-built jet bomber. Although the AR 234 was able
to fly faster than the Allied fighters.....it was too little too late and was
unable to turn the tide in Germany's favour. The Ar-234 landed at high
speed, it had a drag chute as standard equipment; it was one of the first
aircraft to do so. The Ar 234B was fitted with two Jumo 004 engines, which
was a unreliable engine. On 24 February, an Ar-234B suffered a flameout in
one of its engines and was forced down to a hard landing by an American P-47
Thunderbolt fighter near the village of Segelsdorf. The jet was captured by the
advancing Allies the next day. It was the first example of the type to fall into
Allied hands largely intact.
This resin set of
flaps is for the 1/48 Hasegawa Ar-234B kit. They include 4 pieces of resin
with unique pieces for the left side as well and unique pieces for the right
side. The 4 flaps are very easy to remove from the very thin casting block
connection point between the flaps and the resin block. The resin casting
itself if flawless with no air bubbles or visible flaws.
This resin set will
permit you to position the flaps in any position you want to make your Ar 234
more realistic. I recommend this product to anyone building an Ar 234.
