| The second plane
is F/A-18A # 163106, which has markings that are similar to the above
planes markings except these markings are in lo-vis grey. This
planes markings include a large grey triangle band on the outside of the
vertical stabilizers. On the inside of the vertical stabilizers is a
raging bull with the word NAVY under the image on one stabilizer and a
soldier riding a horse with the word ARMY under the image on the inside of
the other vertical stabilizer. On the left side of the nose is some
delicate black artwork that says "Affirmed 1978" with a picture
of a race horse. On the side of the fuselage above the wing behind
the Lex fence is a grey pitchfork with the letters VFA-97 written on it.
There is also a black horizontal stripe running along the fuselage above
the wing. On the underside of the drop tanks are the words "Go
Navy" "Beat Army".
With the passion
surrounding the events of 9-11 and Operation Enduring Freedom, there is no
doubt in my mind that this decal sheet will prove to be much sought after
by modellers wanting to capture in scale the planes involved in the
Operation Enduring Freedom.
To the right are the front
and back of the instruction sheets. In all you get markings for 2
different F-18C's on this decal sheet (except wing walkways). The
Two Bobs have captured a moment in our shared history which is still very
much unfolding.
Further below you will find
scans of the decal sheets. You only get enough "wing walk"
decals for one plane, but masking up this area and spraying on some black
paint shouldn't be much of a problem. |
