The T-58 WD was a
modified T-58D (a prototype of the Su-15 A). This plane was built to test the
new double delta wings which were later used for the Su-15 TM, and to reduce the
take-off-passage with three Kolesow RD-36-35 (each 22,6 kN) engines in the
middle-fuselage.
In 1967 this plane was displayed at Moskau-Domodedowo air-base with less than
300m take-off-passage. This experimental aircraft was an interstage to the T-6
prototype, which later became the Su-24.

I used the Trumpeter Su-15
TM kit as base for this conversion. The Wings were the correct ones.
I
made a new radome (the old conicone), different air intakes at the
afterburner area, enlarged wingbases, air intakes for the three engines on
the back, three exhaust pipes at the lower fuselage with the hole cover
unit,
a new cockpit and of course the the paint scheme. In Picture 02 below you can
see the original T-58 WD.
I did this
conversion to use my old Su-15 TM kit once again. It was my first Trumpeter-kit
and it was pretty expensive -> about 50 €. I built it 10 years ago and so
it was the quality...I cleaned up the hole plane and start the conversion. The
same I will to with my old MiG-29 A, to built a MiG-29 SMT or M2...you will see
it first.
Greetings from
Austria.
