D-Day - Allied Landings in France in 1944

Here is my version of the Tamiya P-47. There are only little scratch built details like metal gun barrels, metal antenna mast, metal pitot tube and PE seat belts. Paints are Tamiya acrylics and the top coat of Polyscale flat. The engine is wired with thin metal for the spark plug wires. The invasion stripes are over painted to represent a post D-day aircraft. Decals are an old set from Cutting Edge.

Battle damage is replicated by thinning the fuselage on the inside and then a panel of aluminum foil was placed on the outside. This was then cut to create the tear in the fuselage trying to simulate damage from a flak burst. I made an intercooler and placed it inside the fuselage since the inside of the AC can be seen through the damage but it is not apparent from these pictures.

This aircraft is part of a simple diorama. The landing strip is made from plaster that is carved to model the concrete joints. The figures are the well known figures from Verlinden. They are painted with Vallejo Acrylics and I don't think I changed them any. The tow bar is scratch made and designed by my imagination since I could not find any information on what a tow bar for a P-47 looked like.
