This is my Trumpeter 1/32 scale
MiG-21 MF in Iraqi markings. Originally this model was to be used in a
diorama. Thus you will find several open and/or missing panels that would
have made a bit more sense in the diorama. The rear section of the
aircraft would have also been removed to display the engine. However, as
has already been mentioned in reviews before, the tail section has no internal
structure and would have to be fabricated. That in itself would not be
difficult. Being sure it was accurate would be another matter.

I built the kit OOB
with the exception of the static dischargers on the wingtips. The original
plastic ones kept breaking off. To me, an aftermarket cockpit just isn't
required. The kit pit is pretty darned good and looks great as is.
The weathering was
an much of an experiment to me than anything. I used chalk for the wash
and the biggest mistake can be seen on the control surfaces. Before the
chalk wash, I forgot to spray them with Future and, as a result, the chalk
stained the surface. Although the effect doesn't look bad, it probably
isn't accurate.
The vomit-producing color in the
cockpit is nothing more than Model Masters Interior Blue Green. The hub
and nose green were painted with Aeromaster Radome/Hub Green. The camo was
painted with Model Master Sand and Tamiya Dark Earth over Model Master Light
Gull Gray.
This model now resides with a few
others I have built at Extreme Sports and Hobbies in Pooler, Georgia USA.
